Reporting To

Production Manager / Plant Head – Dry Division

Purpose of the Role

To supervise and coordinate daily production activities in the Dry Manufacturing Department, ensuring achievement of production targets while maintaining quality, safety, productivity, cost efficiency, and compliance with GMP standards. The role is responsible for manpower management, line performance, process adherence, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Plan Execution

  • Execute daily production plans as per schedule issued by Planning.
  • Ensure timely line setup and production start-up.
  • Monitor production output against targets and take corrective actions for deviations.
  • Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, and materials.
  • Coordinate with dispensing supervisor for uninterrupted material availability.
  • Ensure completion of production orders within planned timelines.

2. Shop Floor Supervision

  • Supervise production operators, row monitors and workers.
  • Allocate manpower across lines based on production priorities and SKU requirements.
  • Monitor shop floor discipline and productivity.
  • Conduct shift handover and shift review meetings.
  • Ensure proper line balancing and workflow management.

3. Quality & GMP Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to approved SOPs, BPRs, and work instructions.
  • Maintain GMP, housekeeping, and 6S standards across production areas.
  • Ensure in-process quality checks are performed as per requirements.
  • Coordinate with QA for line clearance and quality inspections.
  • Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions.

4. Productivity & Efficiency Management

  • Monitor hourly production performance.
  • Track and improve:
    • Line Productivity
    • Labour Productivity
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement improvement actions.
  • Support Lean, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement projects.

5. Safety, Health & Environment

  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and EHS requirements.
  • Report and investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure proper usage of PPE by all employees.

6. Material & Inventory Control

  • Verify material issuance against production orders.
  • Monitor material consumption and wastage.
  • Ensure proper material reconciliation after batch completion.
  • Coordinate with Stores for material shortages and returns.
  • Maintain traceability of materials and finished goods.

7. Documentation & Reporting

  • Ensure accurate completion of production records.
  • Update daily production reports and shift reports.
  • Record downtime, rejection, rework, and wastage data.
  • Escalate production issues promptly to management.
  • Maintain production KPIs and dashboard data.

8. People Management

  • Train operators on SOPs, quality standards, and safety practices.
  • Conduct skill assessments and identify training needs.
  • Support performance management and employee development.
  • Promote teamwork, discipline, and positive work culture.

9. Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for:
    • Productivity improvement
    • Cost reduction
    • Waste elimination
    • Process standardization
  • Implement best practices across production lines.
